Run Amuck Review
Puns are not everyone’s cup of tea. However, if you love puns and online slots, you often stumble into some creative names that make you giggle. That was the case for High 5 Games’ Run Amuck and us.
The game offers a cluster pay system with a rather interesting way of rewarding consecutive wins. If that is not enough, there is also a free spins bonus! Is all that enough to win players over? Read on to find out!
- Medium volatility with 1039x jackpot
- Racking up Riches bonus
- Free spins that enhance Racking up Riches special feature
Humans often fall into the trap that aliens have to look like we do. However, that is simply not the case. They could take almost any form, including sentient, colourful muck.
Apart from making a mess in the lab, these aliens are super good at keeping you entertained. The medium variance and 1039x jackpot are good, but they are just part of the equation.
What really sets this release apart in our eyes are its special features. These include free spins and the Racking up Riches bonus.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Messy labs are nothing new when it comes to slot themes. However, we cannot think of many casino games where said labs look this charming.
You have leftover colourful sludge scattered all over the place, which adds to the personality of the whole game. Run Amuck also has plenty of awesome animations.
Sometimes, one of the lab machines will activate for a few seconds. For us, the best animations are the various blobs coming together during gameplay.
You play this release on a seven reel, seven-row board with cluster pays instead of traditional paylines. Land and combine enough symbols in adjacent positions to form a winning combination.
Wins can only be formed from vertically or horizontally adjacent positions. Diagonally adjacent positions do not form winning combinations.
The key to understanding this slot is figuring out the Racking up Riches bonus. When you land four or more matching icons in horizontally or vertically adjacent positions, they will combine.
Combinations are done in such a way as to occupy the lowest number of positions possible. One combination can have a maximum of four symbols and occupies one position on the reels.
Combinations consisting of two, three or four icons all have different symbol designs. This helps indicate how many icons you need to add to complete a combination.
After all combinations for a spin are complete, other positions on the board disappear. New symbols will appear in all empty positions.
If enough new icons appear to form another four-symbol combination, all existing four-icon combinations are combined again.
This continues until no new four-symbol combinations can be formed. Only four-icon combinations count as cash prizes. The more of them you have, the better your reward will be.
Run Amuck Free Spins
Three or four Scatters in any position unlock eight or thirty free spins. Scatters only appear in the top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right reels.
At the start of each free spin, a group of one to three adjacent matching four-symbol combinations appear.
These combinations are placed in a random position on the playing field before other icons appear. You cannot retrigger or win additional free spins.
Where To Play Run Amuck?
RTP, bet sizes and volatility
High 5 Games gave this release an RTP of 96%. This matches the current industry standard which is also 96%.
You can wager between $0.20 and $400 on each spin.
This is a medium variance slot with a 1039x jackpot. You cannot just score one big jackpot and stop for the day here.
Run Amuck carefully balances frequent bonuses while still giving you a satisfying jackpot.
We fell in love with this release at first glance. The longer we played it, the more we liked what we saw.
The Racking up Riches bonus sounds complicated, but you will quickly get the hang of it. It makes every round very engaging, which we quite like.
The medium variance keeps things from getting too stale. Still, we do wish that the slot offered a slightly better jackpot.
Overall, we would say this game is well worth your time. We rate it 3 out of 5 stars.
