Lucky Leprechaun Clusters Review
Irish slots have been enormously popular across the industry, with virtually all developers taking a stab at the theme. The iGaming behemoth, Microgaming, is no different, tackling the topic in 2015 with Lucky Leprechaun.
It was a minor online slot riddled with cliches that had no significant success. Seven years later, in March 2022, the provider will release an update on the first game with a few tweaks.
Clusters enter the fray in the upcoming release, carrying the same tired cliches. Still, if you have a soft spot for the theme, try Lucky Leprechaun Clusters. Despite the drawbacks, they have a few perks to offer.
- High volatility with a maximum win of 4,600x the stake
- Cluster Pays
- Rolling Reels, Trail of Fortune and four different modifiers
While not spectacular, the graphics are eye-pleasing and sharp, accompanied by a traditional soundtrack that suits the theme well. The same mountains from the original game provide the background, and they are OK.
A few non-conventional features spice the game up and keep the atmosphere entertaining. Four different modifiers and the Trail of Fortune are there to maintain the game interesting, with 4,600x the bet up for grabs.
The chase for the pot of gold is interesting, but it becomes predictable and unfulfilling after a short while.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
As mentioned, the Irish mountains provide the setting for this slot, with traditional music in the background to enhance authenticity. The design is good but not fantastic, leaving the impression the provider has made some decisions too quickly.
Like the Windows screensaver, the setting still feels authentic and rings true. A few exciting features deliver some surprises along the way, but ultimately, they fail to make the game excellent.
It has its moments, but it will hardly break any records and top any lists. Lucky Leprechaun Clusters is thoroughly unpretentious and has a bit of charm, but ultimately, it does not make a highly memorable experience.
The hunt for the pot of gold occurs on a 7×7 game grid with no classic paylines, but Cluster Pays. The symbols are pretty much the same as in the original game.
The low-pay symbols include card ranks (10-A) with a Celtic design. Additionally, there are four premium symbols to complete the paytable: Pipes, Beer Glasses, Fiddles, and Leprechauns.
No Scatters exist in the game, reducing the winning potential significantly. Still, there are enough perks in the game to make some waves.
The Rolling Reels feature occurs whenever a winning combination appears on the reels. It is just another name for the Chain Reaction, with winning clusters disappearing and enabling the other symbols to fall into their places.
The process repeats until no winning combos remain on the grid. The game’s primary goal is to collect winning symbols in the meter next to the grid. Gathering symbols activate features at certain levels, triggering a Bonus game when completed.
The four modifiers include Pots o’ Gold (21 collected symbols) that add random Wilds on the reels. Moreover, the adjacent icons are removed in a rainbow pattern to let the new ones fill the gaps.
Rainbow Road costs 42 symbols and adds random Wilds while removing icons in a row and column to let the new ones in.
Furthermore, Lucky Coin adds random Wild Coins to the grid to generate winning clusters and combinations. It costs 63 symbols. Finally, for 84 symbols, Shamrock Shake selects regular symbol types, vanishing from the grid.
Lucky Leprechaun Clusters Free Spins
There is no conventional Free Spins round in the game, but if you collect 125 symbols, you trigger the Trail of Fortune. When this Bonus feature is unlocked, the game grid is removed, and a squared trail with increasing Multipliers appears.
The wheel spins a number of times, making progress along the Trail. Reach the end of a rainbow where the pot contains the prize of 1,500x the stake.
Where To Play Lucky Leprechaun Clusters?
RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The default RTP value for the game amounts to 96.31%, which is slightly above the industry standard. The hit frequency is nearly unbelievable at 41.68%, meaning the wins come relatively frequently.
The betting range is OK, with the lowest possible wager starting at $0.10 and the highest at $50. Microgaming has wanted to make this game attractive to casual players and high rollers.
They succeeded, but Lucky Leprechaun Clusters will not be a classic by any means. It is too cliched and unoriginal to be immensely popular.
This game is a highly volatile slot, meaning you are in for rarer but more substantial wins. However, bearing in mind the hit frequency, those wins are not uncommon.
There might be something for everyone in this game, with a decent maximum win of 4,600x the stake. Not an all-timer by any means, but Lucky Leprechaun Clusters are tremendously charming.
This Irish slot from Microgaming, Lucky Leprechaun Clusters, is mediocre in every sense of the word. It had some potential but got lost along the way, with a festival of cliches ruining the experience.
A couple of attractive features stir players’ imagination, but it is not enough for a complete adventure. It is quietly charming, but it is not enough to become a classic. Our rate is 3 out of 5 stars.
