Book of Secrets 6 Review
What lies within the pharaoh’s tomb? What grand mysteries sit hidden within those centuries old walls? We thought we cracked the case already, but it seems Synot is not ready to leave Egypt just yet.
Instead, the team has made an updated version of their old title with one major change. Instead of playing on five reels, the game is played on six reels instead! Will this be enough to make Book of Secrets 6 attractive to players?
- High variance with a 11,000x jackpot
- Ten fixed paylines
- Offers a familiar set of free spins, similar to other ‘Book of’ slots
They say those who find the tome left behind by the pharaohs can learn all kinds of forbidden knowledge. The knowledge hidden in those pages is priceless, so finding it quickly is very important!
Fortunately, the casino game gives us an engaging, if familiar, free spins round to guide us to a big win. The largest possible prize you can win playing this release is 11,000x your total stake. A fitting prize for a highly volatile title!
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Say what you will about ancient Egypt, but this setting keeps on giving. Even after countless of online slots using it as a theme, it remains a popular choice.
Book of Secrets 6 does a great job of immersing you in the theme it has chosen. However, it is less impressive the second time around.
You cannot expect to pick up many points of graphics when almost everything is reused from the previous game.
You play this release on a six-reel, three-row board with ten fixed paylines. This is the only notable difference compared to the original Book of Secrets, which was played on five reels.
To win, find at least three identical symbols in adjacent positions that start with the leftmost reel. All winning combinations have to follow an active payline, or the associated cash prize will not be paid.
The golden book serves as both the Wild and the Scatter. It can substitute for all icons on the board except for the special symbol. It can also grant a cash prize of its own when won, up to 200x for a six-of-a-kind win.
Any win that is worth less than $55,000 can be gambled. You can chose to pocket the win by selecting the piggy bank icon. Alternatively, you can select the cards symbol to gamble that win.
Upon selecting gamble, you are taken to a separate screen. Here, you are tasked to predict the colour of the face down card. Will it be red or black?
During gamble, you can choose to halve your initial win to try to keep some of it safe. If you lose, you are immediately out and the funds you bet are lost.
If you win, the wager you staked will be doubled. If you won $1 and successfully gambled it, you would have $2 afterwards. You can gamble up to ten times per bonus. However, you can also end the special feature early by selecting the collect button.
Book of Secrets 6 Free Spins
Three or more Scatter-Wild icons on the board will award ten free spins. During this bonus, one symbol is chosen to become a special icon. Free spins can be retriggered by finding three or more Scatter-Wilds during the bonus.
The chosen special symbol will expand to cover the entire reel it currently occupies. However, it will only do this after all standard payouts are completed.
Special icons do not have to follow paylines in order to grant cash prizes. Provided there are enough matching symbols, the reward will be paid. Special icons only expand if it will result in a guaranteed win.
Where To Play Book of Secrets 6?
RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The RTP for Book of Secrets 6 is 96.02%. This is better than the current average for slots, which sits at 96%. However, it is a very slight advantage!
You can bet between $0.12 and $20 on each spin. No, we do not know why the minimum bet is so weird either.
What we do know is that this game has some fantastic winning potential. The best prize you can land is 11,000x your total stake.
A great jackpot, but one that comes with a high variance to back it up. Play carefully or your budget will suffer!
Synot has not done much to reinvent the wheel with this release. They kept the successful formula from Book of Secrets, and just added a sixth reel to it.
We would not mind this if the developer made additional changes or spruced up the graphics. If you enjoyed the original slot, then you will like Book of Secrets 6.
However, there is no escaping the fact it is a lazy remake to some degree. Because of that, we rate this game 3 out of 5 stars.
