Aztec Magic Deluxe Review
Is there such a thing as magic? We look for answers in BGaming’s latest title, Aztec Magic Deluxe. Will it succeed in charming us, or will its spell book be revealed as fraudulent?
- RTP is 96.96%
- Wins can be gambled for bigger cash prizes
- Paylines are flexible
The Aztec empire sprawled across a vast territory before European colonisation. One of the most interesting things left by these people were their pyramids.
How were they built? Nobody knows for certain. Some might even suggest it was done by magic. The available special features can certainly create some magical wins.
You can play the gamble bonus, Wilds with 3x multipliers and a free spins round.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The online slot goes all out in embracing its Aztec theme completely. The background image is set close to an Aztec pyramid.
We can also see the lush jungles surrounding it. The symbol designs are also uniform. Even the playing card royals have an undeniably Aztec feel to them thanks to the extra decorations.
Other icons heavily draw from Aztec culture. Meanwhile, the Wild and Scatter depict a warrior and a priestess, respectively.
You play this game on a five-reel, three-row board with fifteen flexible paylines. This allows players to have one, some or all fifteen paylines active at the same time.
Decreasing the number of active paylines lowers your bet. However, it also lowers your chances of winning. To form a win, you need three or more matching symbols in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel.
Keep an eye out for the warrior. As a Wild, he can substitute for any icon except for Scatters. Very useful when it comes to forming wins!
Even more interesting is the fact Wilds triple the payout of any winning combination they take part in.
Multiple Wilds substituting for symbols in a winning combination does not increase the multiplier. The cash prize will always be increased by 3x.
This multiplier does not increase wins consisting solely of Wild icons.
Find three priestess Scatters to win ten free spins. It is possible to retrigger free spins by finding more Scatters while the bonus is played. However, there are no additional mechanics added during free spins.
After a win, you can choose to gamble the prize for more money. You are taken to a separate screen, where you need to choose the colour or suit of a face down card.
Predicting the colour will double your win if done correctly. Choose the right suit, and the prizes is increased by 4x.
One wrong guess will result in a loss of the original prize, and any gains you have made. You can end the gamble bonus early by clicking on the collect button.
Where To Play Aztec Magic Deluxe?
RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The RTP of Aztec Magic Deluxe is 96.96%. This is almost a whole percentage point above average when compared to the current industry standard!
You can bet between $0.01 and $15 on each spin. However, that low wager is only possible by turning off paylines. With all fifteen paylines active, your minimum bet is $0.15 per spin.
The game has a medium variance and a top prize of 5000x your total stake. Despite the volatility, the jackpot is not easy to land.
It requires a five-of-a-kind Wild win. Something you will quickly learn is almost impossible to achieve!
We have to commend BGaming. They set out to make an Aztec themed release, and they did a spectacular job.
It lives up to the chosen setting perfectly, as even the user interface has been tweaked to fit. We wish we could say the gameplay gripped us in the same way.
There is nothing wrong with free spins and Wild multipliers, but it feels somewhat retro. One more bonus would have gone a long way in making Aztec Magic Deluxe feel better.
As it stands, it has a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. Good, but it can be better.
