Age of Akkadia Review
Ancient civilisations are all the rage when it comes to online slots. Most of the attention goes to Norse, Egyptian and Roman cultures.
However, other impressive empires also left their mark on the world. As developers strive to be different, they will introduce players to other historical civilisations.
Just like Red Tiger is doing in Age of Akkadia. It takes us back to the times of ancient Mesopotamia and the Akkadian empire. Can this game live up to the success of the empire it uses as inspiration?
- Medium variance with a 2048x jackpot
- Wins are granted using a cluster pays system
- Free spins and multipliers can be unlocked as you form winning combinations
Age of Akkadia returns us to the third millennium BC, to one of history’s most influential empires.
The graphics do an incredible job of capturing the magnificence of the empire, giving us a gorgeous background to view. However, there is more to this release than just great visuals.
Casino members can also look forward to a fun, medium variance title with several fun special features. Extra Wilds, free spins, and random multipliers all help you win up to 2048x your total stake.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The theme is nothing particularly innovative. Ancient empires are always fun, and Red Tiger’s slot capitalises on the absence of other Akkadian-inspired titles.
You can tell a lot of care and attention went into the visuals.
The detailed background and fantastic animations go a long way in immersing casino members in the setting. Great work by the artist team. You have outdone yourselves yet again!
You play this game on a five-reel, five-row board with cluster pays instead of traditional paylines. Find three or more matching symbols in a row to form a winning combination.
Wins can be formed horizontally or vertically if all involved icons are identical. Alternatively, one or more of the involved symbols could be a Wild.
When a high-paying icon forms a winning cluster, they leave behind a Wild. This Wild will appear in the middle position of the removed symbols and can substitute for all icons.
A win that only consists of Wilds does not leave behind another Wild. Furthermore, Wilds remain on the reels for the subsequent cascade after being formed.
This leads us to the next available special feature in this release: cascading reels. However, it does not work like cascading reels you are used to.
Symbols that are part of the winning combinations are removed from the board. However, new icons do not fall down to fill in the empty positions. Instead, your goal is to empty the board as much as possible.
Age of Akkadia Free Spins
The word BONUS is spelled out in one of the three lowest rows of the playing field. Revealing this word fully will grant ten free spins. If you reveal the word during free spins, you will receive five additional no-cost spins.
Players can also find multipliers hidden beneath symbols. Up to three can appear in a single spin, with a maximum multiplier of 10x.
Revealed multipliers are added together and remain for the duration of the bonus round. The multiplier’s maximum value can go as high as 30x.
Where To Play Age of Akkadia?
RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The RTP for the slot is 95.67%, which is slightly below the current industry average of 96%. This is standard for Red Tiger games, which should not discourage you from playing them.
You can bet between $0.10 and $40 on each spin.
This release has a medium variance, which we liked a lot. It allows us to win special features semi-frequently while still being able to score a decent cash prize.
The 2,048x jackpot will not be appealing to everyone. Even so, the vast majority of casino members will love Age of Akkadia and all it offers.
Some slots draw players in through engaging and frequent special features. Others give you a huge jackpot to work towards.
Then you have games like these, which take the middle road to try to appease everyone. It works quite well in Red Tiger’s case, owing to the fun bonuses and incredible visuals it offers.
The top prize is good too! Overall, we were quite satisfied with this release. While not the best title the developer ever produced, it will keep you entertained for hours.
We rate the game 4 out of 5 stars.
