Scientific Games Rebrands as Light & Wonder

Published: March 9, 2022

Scientific Games will go through a rebranding to emphasize the company’s focus on gaming.

The new brand will be known as Light & Wonder. According to the group, this change should show the dedication to producing gaming content for land-based and online casinos, as well as free-to-play and real-money social gaming markets worldwide.

Over the past couple of months, Scientific Games has moved away from some segments to focus on gaming. In October, it sold its lottery business to Brookfield Business Partners in a $7.7 billion deal.

The initial plans to divest the group’s lottery business were revealed in June last year. Scientific Games’ lottery business encompasses a wide range of solutions, from lottery games and lottery systems to sports betting, online lottery and retail technology.

Last year, the company also got rid of its sports betting division after selling OpenBet to Endeavor Group.

In accordance with its new games-oriented operations, Scientific Games will launch a new internet site lnw.com. It will offer an overview of its casino games, online slots, gaming systems and platforms, hardware and player account management.

According to available information, the legal name change should be completed during spring. Once the process is done, Scientific Games/Light & Wonder will get a new stock ticker.

Commenting on the move, the group’s chief executive Barry Cottle, said:

Our powerful new strategy required a powerful new identity to distinguish us and our unique offerings and capabilities. Our new name and identity are born from our winning strategy to be the leading cross-platform game company and will inspire our people to make great products for our players.
