New Bill Could Ban All Vehicles on Las Vegas Strip

Published: May 11, 2022

Nevada is getting ready to introduce a new bill that could change the cult Las Vegas Strip, as it would ban all cars in this famous landmark.

Tick Segerblom, Clark County Commissioner, was announced after the NFL Draft. The Strip was closed for traffic for three days, with the city receiving plenty of positive feedback from the numerous tourists.

Under the provisions of the bill, the Strip will be closed to cars for a weekend morning. If the move has a positive effect, it could be extended.

In the meantime, Segerblom, a former state legislator, plans to contact the Strip hotels to get the owner’s approval of the measure. We’ll have the chance to see the project’s effect firsthand when Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, hosts the 2024 Super Bowl.

The city has implemented a similar policy for Freemont Street. The measure for the downtown area was introduced back in 1994.

In late April, the Nevada Gaming Control Board posted its financial report for March. It revealed the state generated around $1.8 billion in gambling revenue. Last Vegas Strip gambling venue had a very successful month, taking home more than $965 million in revenue.

More and more investors are looking to open new casinos in the Strip. Tilman Fertitta, the Golden Nugget Casino brand owner, has already found the right property to build his new resort.

The renowned real estate investment and management giant, The Siegel Group, is currently looking for a project to build on its ten-acre Las Vegas Boulevard property. The company’s plans include a hotel-casino, retail, and condo units.
