English Soccer Club Fulham Partners with W88

Asian operator W88 has signed a new partnership deal with English Premier League side Fulham. Under the provisions of the new agreement, W88 will become the team’s main sponsor in the upcoming season, with its logo prominently displayed on shirts worn by men’s and women’s teams.
W88 will benefit from visibility across the club’s Craven Cottage stadium and the team’s digital channels.
This is not the first major sponsorship deal W88 inks with a Premier League side. So far, the operator has partnered with Wolves, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace while also serving as the official betting partner for Leicester City.
However, the future of online gambling-related partnerships in the Premier League is uncertain, as the league’s shareholders are set to vote on its future in the coming days.
Currently, none of the six big clubs – Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Tottenham – doesn’t have a gambling sponsorship. On the other hand, nearly fifty percent of the remaining teams in the top tier do.
A campaign aiming to put an end to all gambling-related sponsorship and advertising in football has recently released a letter expressing its doubts about self-regulation and calling for an end to such deals.
However, the campaign claims its goal isn’t to ban the presence of gambling in soccer but to lessen the extent of its presence through advertising.
Hilly Ehrlich, business development manager at W88, commented on the latest deal:
We are both proud and excited to be partnering with London’s oldest professional football club, Fulham FC, as they return to the top-flight of English football. We are also looking forward to engaging with their passionate global fan base during the season ahead and delivering innovative content with the club. With a global footprint, W88 is a brand which represents integrity, trust and excellence, and we will be actively promoting responsible gaming.
