Canadian Gaming Association appoints new board members
Published: December 29, 2021
The Canadian Gaming Association has revealed it has appointed gaming industry veterans George Sweny and Ilkim Hincer to its Board of directors. They have accepted executive functions in the organization and are to lead it in the following years.
Hincer will assume the role of Chairman of the Board, while Sweny will become a vice-chair. He is also a vice-president of compliance at Flutter Entertainment, whereas Hincer is the CLO and Executive Vice President at Hard Rock International.
Hincer and Sweny will join fourteen other members of the Board of Directors. They will have to navigate the organization while it plays a vital role in the industry during these challenging times.
Everyone will have to work together to overcome any potential difficulties, including the stakeholders. However, nobody is particularly worried, for the Board consists of seasoned industry veterans who know how to handle challenges.
They have all expressed hope the company will continue to grow during this evolving period. The new executives want to continue walking the path Carrie Kormos has taken during her term.
The new executives will join the representatives of multiple prominent companies who have their place on the Board. They include DraftKings, Scientific Games, Konami, Everi, Niagara Casinos, Responsible Gaming Council, etc.
Danielle Bush from Partner, McCarthy Tétrault LLP, serves as a Corporate Secretary, while Rob Scarpelli, HLT Advisory, Inc, is a Treasurer. The entire Board of Directors shares the same goal, for the company to experience stable growth and promote responsible gaming.
Commenting on the new chairman appointment, CGA President and CEO, Paul Burns, stated:
I am pleased that Ilkim has accepted the role of Chair of the Board of directors. I’ve known him for years and have followed his notable career in the gaming industry. Ilkim has a strong track record with some of the world’s largest gaming operators, both here in Canada and in the United States. I look forward to working alongside him as we bounce back from the pandemic and position the CGA to capitalize on all of the exciting technology, iGaming, and sports betting developments across Canada.
